Amanda Bakay grew up as the daughter of a single mother who worked at a manufacturing job in Lancaster until she retired, and would often have to pick up a second job just to make ends meet. She is a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and has a BA in History and Political Science from Mansfield University.
Amanda worked for ten years in the retail banking industry and developed a deep understanding of the way financial systems impact the community. As a lender, she helped people get their first cars, first homes, and start their first businesses.
Today, as the Director of Operations at the Lancaster Science Factory, Amanda oversees the operation of a nonprofit organization that gives access to hands-on STEM education to thousands of students in our community. She is proud to work for an organization that plays a crucial role in building the local STEM workforce.
